PUBLIC AND OTHER BEQUESTS

Apart from bequests of a private nature the following gifts are of public interest: —
’ (a) To the Southern Star Masonic Lodge, No. 735 (English constitution), 250 fully paid-up'shares in S. Kirkpatrick and Cd., LtcJ. (l‘)j To the Trafalgar Royal Arch Chapter. No. 157 (English . constitution), 250 fully paid-up shares in S. Kirkpatrick and Co., Ltd. (q) To the Masonic District Grand Lodge (English « onstitntion) of Westland and Nelson, 250 fully paid-up shares in S.. Kirkpatrick and Co., Ltd. (d) To the Nelson Rose Croix Lodge No; 35 (Scottish constitution),, ICO fully paid-up shares in S. Kirkpatrick and Co., Ltd;. ; ■ - , (e) To certain employees of S. Kirkpatrick .and Cq., Ltd., a stated number of shares according to the length of each, employee’s service.
(f) To the . Nelson Cricket Association (men’s clubs) the sum of £lOO for the purchase pf a. suitable cup to be known as tlie “Kirkpatrick Challenge Cup.” A-, < (g) To tlie Nelson Hockey Association (men’fi clubs) the sum of £lOO for a. similar purpose. (h) To the Nelson Ladies’ Hockey Association the sum of £lOO for a similar purpose.
(:) £lOO, the income from which is to be applied to the keeping in good order that portion of Nelson Cemetery reserved. for the burial of member's of the Church of England.
(j)' The residential property, in Mount Street. Nelson, with the buildings. furniture and other household effects to be held upon trust by a board’of governors elected by (he Freemasons of all the Masonic Lodges in - t New Zealand (English, Irish, Scbt’ch and . Nyw .Zealand constitutions) to use and manage and carry bii same as a Masonic institution for hoarding establislnncnt primarily fcr the hoard, iptiintenance and education of the, orphan daughters of deceased Masons. z
(k) The sum of £5OOO is also given for the purpose of establishing and maintaining this institution. In addition the trustee is authorised to distribute io (he said board out of the income (if the estate the following: —
(1) £lOO per annum, for prizes, for athletic sports of the said institution. (2) £2OO per annum for pocket money for the children of the institution to be distributed -as follows (J) £lOO on sth October in-each year (Mr. Kirkpatrick's birthday)-, (ii) £166 at' Christmas time. (.3.) £5O per annum for thd employees of the said institution by way of bonus. '
H) £5O per annum to provide scholastic prizes for the said children.
The balance of the income of the estate is given to the board of governors for the purpose of carrying out deceased’s wishes in regard to the Masonic institution . which .he desires established.
