(Oor Own Correspondent).

. REEFTON, June 16. A sawmill hand from The Landing district, named Fred Dean, jnr., was injured to-day while working in the bush. The axe he was using slipped, inflicting a nasty gash in the leg below the knee. He was brought into Reefton for medical treatment. - The dance- at' the. Band. Room on

Saturday night, given by the Reefton Ladies’ Hockey Club, was’well attended and a very enjoyable evening, was spent. Miss Fan-ell supplied the music, Air. F. Bierwirth was an efficient M.C. and. the supper left nothing to be desired. Quite an interesting, feat in the world of wireless was accomplished by Air. Edgar Elliston; of-Reefton, on Saturday evening, in hearing the score of the New South Wales v. New Zealand match broadcasted. At/the time .Air. Elliston picked, up the news, on his wireless set, the score stood at 12 to 3. The news was clear and distinct. Air. Elliston is to be congratulated on his achievement,- when the distance, 1230 -miles’, is considered. Air.-Alex Robertson, one of the footballers injured in the recent match, has not received such severe injuries as was at first feared, the shoulder being only badly ' bruised instead of being dislocated.
