Mr and/Airs G. Ashby left this morning for Umaru.

Mr Alex. Maclean (Messrs Roydn Bros, and- Kirk, Ltd., Christchurch) is visiting Greyniouth. .

Mr T. Buxton has- been . appointed organiser and lecturer for the New Zealand League of Nations Union.

Mr T. Franklin, who has been visiting relatives on the West Coast, left to-day for Christchurch.

Miss C. Rathbun, of the Greymouth Telephone staff lias been transferred to Wellington, and will leave Greyniouth next Saturday.

, Miss Rita Moss, who has been on a visit to her mother, Alexander Street, returned to Christchurch this morning.

,Mr Bruce Adam (Presbyterian Home Missionary) has returned from Milton. He has recovered from his accident and lias resumed his duties at Ross.

Messrs T. Kerr, Waller and England,. Christchurch, who have been m. specting timber interests on the West Coast, returned by this morning's express. ■

Three New Zealanders are among the new Fellows of >‘the Royal College of Surgeons (stated a'London cablegram) namely Dis AL Barnett, IT. K. Christie, and W. M. Cotter.

Mr E.-M. Williams, Borough Engineer, ■ who underwent an operation at the Grey Hospital this week, was reported, on enquiry to-day, to have passed a comfortable night.

Mr W. 'Yates, for many years with the Union Steam Ship Company at Greyniouth, and now at Christchurch, has been seriously ill with double pneumonia. He is now recovering.

Her death Was the result of an attack of pleurisy. Sifter Hyndman was bora on the West -Coast.

..'The wedding was celebrated at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Hokitika,- on Wednesday evening, by the Rev-.-B. Hutson, of Mr John Fergusson of Flari Hari, eldest son of the late Mr Thomas Fergusson, and Miss Harriet I’arker, eldest daughter of Mr and MrshF. Parker, of Kanieri. Miss M. Parlier, sister of the bride, acted as bridesmaid, and Mr H. Shearer was best man. The honeymoon is being spent in Canterbury.

s'The wedding of Mr Andrew McNicol, eldest son of Mr. .John McNicol, to Miss .Mary Lamberton, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs T. Lamberton, both of Blackball, took place in the Presbyterian Church, Blackball, on Juno 3. : The bride was attired in white crepe-de-chine, with an overdress of radium lace, and wore a veil and wreath. She was attended by her sister, Miss Hilda Lamberton, who, wore blue -marocain. The duties of best man were carried out by Mi- T. D. Lamberton. The bride's going away dress was of mole velvet. The honeymoon is being spent in South Westland.

Mr Reuben Kell, clerk in the Warden’s Court, Greymouth, who has been transferred Co Hokitika, was, this morning, mot by the court, officials and representative of the solicitors’ offices and presented with a fountain pen and a silver Eversharp pencil. The presentation was made by Mr Jas. Mclndce, Clerk of the Court, who eulogised the exemplary manner in which Mr Bell had performed his official duties, and wished him every success in his future career. Representatives of the legal profession extended their appreciation of .the maiiv courtesies received from Mr Bell. Mr Bell thanked those present for the useful gifts, and the speakers for their flattering remarks.

J The death of Airs William Blair, Hindi Street, took place at the Grey Hospital early this morning after a short illness. She entered the hospital early this week for treatment, and an immediate operation was found necessary. After the operation a decided'improvement was manifested, but yesterday a change took place, and do (leased grew gradually weaker. Mrs Blair; who was 42 years of age, was the eldest daughter of the late M r 'Thomas Oxenham, for many years licensee of-the Gilmer Hotel. Mr Blair is a brother of Mrs D. Tennent, Cowper Street. Mrs Blair leaves a family of three, two daughters and one son. The funeral will take place at Karoro to-morrow afternoon.

'A pretty wedding was celebrated on Wednesday at. the yßoman Catholic Church, Hckitika, when Irene Mary Lincoln, youngest daughter of Mrs James Lincoln, of Revell) Street, was married to William Saunders Christensen, son of Air and Airs AV. Christensen, of Bealey Street. ■ The bride was escorted to the altar by her brother .lack, and the wedding ceremony was .performed by the Bev. Dr. Kennedy. The bride was gowned in a frock of brocaded’marocain with a tunic edged with beautiful insertion: her veil of tulle, which was the gift, of her cousin, Airs R. Savage. HataitM. AVelliimton. was clasped close to the head by a circlet of tiny orange blossom buds, and fell in flimsy folds to the hem of her dress. She carried a shower bouquet of chrysanthemums and roses, the gift, of her aunt, Airs 1). Toomey. She was attended by her sister Lottie as bridesmaid, who wort? a. dainty frock of royal blue crepe-do chine piped with tomato shade of georgette. Her hat toned with her frock, and she also <arried a bouquet of chrysanthemums and roses. zVter the ceremony a reception was held at the residence of the bride’s mother l . Later in the afternoon the newly-niairried couple left for the north where their honeymoon will be spent. The bride’s travelling frock was of navy blue garbardine with hat en suite. ’
