EVIDENCE AT INQUEST, (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, May 25. . The Coroner commenced an inquiiy this merging concerning the tragedy near Kurcw involving the deaths of Olivh .Jean Rutherford* and .1'1)111, Richard Hudson. •Charles John Bell, clerk, stated he knetv the deceased were keeping company, On April 21 he met Hudson and went to his house. He knew that Hudson generally had a pea. rifle in his car, but did not see it on this occasion. They met jMiss Rutherford and set out for Rutherford’s place at Caverslnyn, but changed their ihinds and turned back. Witness left the car in the city and went honu\ The deceased appeared to be on the best terms. V. ness had no idea where they were go- . ff *' mg. . Further evidence -showed that tit 9.30 p.m. Hudson bought a tin of petrol and a millon of 01. The parties then seemed on good terms. The inquest was adjourned to Kurow to-morrow evening and further evidence will be taken at Oamaru on Wednesday.
