In connection with the tragedy at Toronto, near Newcastle, Oakes and .diss. Beadier were Roman Catholic?, and were married at Tighe’s Hull Church oh Friday night. Oakes was off work for one day, but he workecl jn Wednesday and Thursday. His employers give him an excellent charicier, and say that he yas quite reliable. ! ' ■ *, The couple had been keeping company for two years, the girl being gnorant that lie was married. . Oakes was remanded on the charge of murdering Miss Beacher. He appeared weak a,nd ill, and he had to ba assisted from the court.
