PALESTINE’S HEAD
NEW APPOINTMENT MADE,
Australian and N.Z. Cable Association ft
LONDON, May 21.
The “.Morning Post’s” Palestine correspondent states : —“Lord Plumer’s appointment as Commander-in-Chief here has given satisfaction in nonUnionist circles, it is anticipated that his appointment presages a modification of the British policy in connection with the establishment of a Jewish national home. After Ifai'.l Balfour’s recent visit to Palestine and Syria, some of the members of the Homo of Commons, belonging to the Middle East group, became active, and they came to the eom-lusion that a. modification of the Jewish home policy was essential in order to placate Arab re sentment. This consideration impressed the British Ministers, and Lord Plumer was therefore offered the post. He will seek- for a greater measure of Arab co-operation.
