ANNUAL PRIZE-GIVING. The annual prize giving at tin above school which, owing to unfor • seen, circumstances, was postponed last year, took place last night in Carey’s Hall. There was a good muster of parents and others interested in school matters, while the children naturally' were there in full force. A programme of school items was given by the various classes and the work done reflected great credit 'on the teachers for the careful training shown in the. various songs, recitations etc.. In addition the following ladies and gentlemen Assisted: — Songs: Mr Kitchingham, Miss G. Cressey, Mr F., Smith. Pianoforte Sole, Miss V. Miller; Misses Cornwall,,Hay, Grant, E. 'Mur-f ray, and McMillan; Scotch Dances, Misses Duncan. Hay, and McLaughlan; Pipe Selection, Piper Hay. Piper Hay played for the Scotch lassies, while the various accompaniments were played by. Misses Broad, Pound, and McSherry. Naturally the chief interest to both parents and children was the prizegiving, and the chief interest in this part of the programme centred on tne winner of the ex-pupils’ medHl, whose identity was not known, until the 1 name was announced from the stage. The winner, Master Ronald Scott, was only one mark ahead of Master L- Abbie, who in turn was. only a few marks ahead of the third pupil, Master M. Street. This medal is given by ex-pupils of tile school, to the pupil gaining highest marks m the annual proficiency exam. In the absence of Mr W. D. As each prize-winner came forward, a few words of encouragement and a nice volume were handed over, much to the delight of the recipients. - Mr T. Hornsby on behalf of the Ex-Pupils’ Association handed ov6r the dux medal to Master Ronald -Scott, and judging by the applause from both children and adults, the win was most popular.
