I, — — ’ NEW YORK, May 21. A despatch from King’s Bay, Spitzsbergen, states tluit the two flying boats, ofi the Amundsen-Elsworth expedition hopped off at 5.15 this afternoon. The conditions were • LONDON, May 21. The King’s Bay meteorologists today report that high pressure over the Polar basin was stable. Observation balloons indicate light east south-east-erly winds to a’ height of fifteen hun-> ■ dred metres, and light north-easterly .winds thence ■to a height of three thousand metres. These have swept away local storms, so the .aviators can depend on clear weather north Spitzsbergen over the Polar ice. They cannot expect to start under better* conditions.
