DAIRY CONTROL
OPPOSITION LEAGUE FORMED (Per Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, May 11. The opposition that has been evidenced in this district to the Dairy Produce Control Act, and particularly to that section of the measure relating to the compulsory marketing of produce, was advanced a further stage to-day when, at a representative gathering at New Plymouth, of Taranaki dairy producers, a resolution was passed forming a New Zealand Dairy Producers’ League for the purpose of taking united action against the adoption and enforcement of absolute control in the marketing of New Zealand dairy, produce for export.
It was also resolved that immediate steps be taken to amend the Act, by having the clauses interfering with free marketing deleted; also that steps be taken to revive the ward system of Meeting members of the Control Board. OTAGO DELEGATE. DUNEDIN, May 14. The Executive of the South Island Dairy Association has decided to nominate Mr. F. Waite as a candidate directly to represent the producers of Otago on the Dairy Control Board.
