RICCARTON TRAINING NOTES. TUESDAY’S WORK. The conditions were unpleasant while training operations were in progress at Riccarton on Tuesday morning, a cold drizzling rain setting in just before proceedings commenced. 'The number six grass track was open for fast work, but there was not much of interest. Prompter and Miss Minerva were associated over five furlongs, which they ran in 1.4 4-5- Prompter, with an advantage in the weights, was going the better of the pair at the end. Ferine covered six furlongs by herself in 1.18 4-5. Moorland had Boadicea as a mate over five furlongs, which occupied 1.6. ‘ Red Kriss and Solfello were companions over five furlongs, finishing on terms in 1.6 4-5. Kilris and Tenterfield got to the end ,of five furlongs i n 1.6 2-5. His Majesty was going better than Goldtown at the end of half a mile, run in 51secs. Dutch Courage and Jubilant were associated over a mile. They kept together for five furlongs, when Jubilant gradually died away. Dutch Courage’s time for the last seven furlongs was 1.33 2-5, a useful effort, as she was running on at the end. Tempe sprinted half a mile comfortably in 53secs. Winkie’s Rebel and Rigel galloped a mile, the last seven furlongs taking 1.36 2-5, with Rigel in front at the finish. Castellan and Kukume occjvpied 1.21 over six furlongs, finishing on terms. Paul Pry and North Inch jumped four hurdles on Monday, Paul Pry then going on alone over two brush fences. His display over the hurdles was not as good as usual, North Inch having too much speed for him. Cashman jumped a couple of brush fences on Monday, shaping better than at his previous efforts. R. W. King has decided on a trip to Australia with Pilliewinkie and Many Kittle, and he will leave for Sydney with the pair by an early boat, possibly next week. The intention, if the Winkie geldings go on all right, is to keep them in the Commonwealth through the winter and to race them at the principal spring meetings. With that programme in view, they will be nominated for all the big spring handicaps.
