Ahern, of the Post and Telegraph staff, is under orders of transfer to Eltham. Notwithstanding the change in the weather and other attractions, the weekly entertainment at St Canice’s Club lastni ght attracted a good attendance. Dancing to Miss Curtis s delightful music engaged the attention of a number to an early hour. The usual card tournaments were held, the winners being Mesdames Thurlow and Hartigan and Messrs McDonnell and McCleary (euchre) and forty-fives. Special mention should be made of the good work of the ladies’ committee supper arrangements being always complete in every 7 detail. Miss Anderson won the forty-fives. Mr C. V. Smith, father of the- child killed at Denniston, writes, stating that his child was not seen until after the accident. Two other boys were poking sticks at the wheel. The child was by his side three minutes before being killed, and was not seen until J Higgins whistled to the driver of the I - first dray.
