The statutory, meeting, of the, Mercantile . finance Corporation Ltd., was held at the Chamber. of. . Commerce Hall, Christchurch. There was a large attendance of shareholders, Mr Hebert Bell, Chairman of provisional directors, presiding. The statutory report. and statement of accounts was adopted. In moving the adoption, the Chairman stated/that the flotation of the company , had been exceedingly successful, there b'eiijg an lover ”, subscription to the extent pf nearly 10,000 shares in the short peiiod of three weeks from tim issue of the prospectus. He also stated that the incorporation of the company had been effected and its trading certificate received in an. unusually short time. Witliin a week of the issue, ol the certificate ,business had been transacted by the company. Up to the time of the meeting, a. fair amount of business had been done, and a Targe amount of business was in prospect for immediate transaction. The following directors were appo.nted by. ballot, there being eight nominations for seven seats on the directorate : Messrs Robert Bell, A. F. Carey, Arnaud McKellar, A. D Ford, P. Selig,, W. F. Soper, and W. U. Webley. ' Messrs, Hoare and Kmgscore were appointed auditors for the opsuing year. ’ After the general meeting of shareholders a- meeting of the directors was held and Mr Robert Bell was appoint, ed chairman of the company. Messrs R. Bell, A. McKellar and A. F. Carey were appointed an executive committee., FAT STOCK SALE. At Preston Road Saleyards at 1.30 p.m. on Monday next the National Mortgage and Agency Coy. will submit to auction fat fcuiiocks, sheep, cows, heifer? and runners. A.l>.
