FIRE OUTBREAKS
MAQKAY STREET DAMAGE.
.At 12.30 o’clock'this .mornings fii’G was discovered by a telegraph. ,messenger; named ’C. Watson, at the rear of tan#’ premises, in Mackay Street occupied by Messrs Colliers Ltd. The alarm was quickly given and the Brigade promptly arrived un the scene and extinguished the five. The lire appears to have started in the outer wall and worked ( i(s. way id to the interior of' the back portion df' ■ the' 'shop', which was'' ! deed ■' for tailoring, the bench up against the wail" being slightly charred. The whole of the stock of tailor-made clothes in course of completion and the stock of costumes etc., in the shop have been spoiled' with water. Simson, tho manager for -Colliers, states that no gaslight . or. ring; had been used since- three o?clo,ck in the afternoon, and when shutting' up 1 for the night, everything appeared to be safe.
