HOKITIKA, May 1. At the annual meeting of parishioners of All Saints’ last night a committee was. set up to organise a campaign to augment the funds of the new Mem ciial 'Church. Something over £2oOU is in hand and the object is to raise at least £5OOO before building operations are put in hand. It was pointed oiu by the Churchwarden (.Mr A. kellm) that this is the diamond jubilee of the church here, and it was considered a fitting tihie to lay the foundation stone <<f the new stone building. After being in commission for a considerable time boring bn the ..tmiordAwatuna flat, the Keystone driller, was on Wednesday evening brought bach to Hokitika. ' It is understood that a little gold was found througnout, but not in sufficient quantity to warrant the erection of a dredge. Before Mr. H. P. Lawry S.M. yesterday, Victor Johansen, John Boyd, Errol Grass, John Farey and J. Gugich were charged with taking a motor ear from Pamment; and Berganini'n motor garage on Easter Tuesday. The defence was that they had obtained permission to tans tne car. The case was dismissed.
