HOSPITAL’ BOARD MEETING. (Our Own Correspondent). REEL'TON, March 26. A meeting ci the inangaiiua .nospiirtl Butira was no id at uie County Council Cnambers yesterday. Present : Messrs- AL. I'agan (chairman), Moinroe, beavngiir, Auld, Bell, u'Regan, Paine, Yvavsjn and rNevin (secretary). The Wairau Hospital Board wrote re payment of fees for a resident of that district, since 'died. Proposed by iur U Regan, seconded by Mr Alclnroe that naif the amount due be remitted. —Carried.
Dr T. H. Valintine, Director-Gen-eral of Health, wrote re treatment of infantile- paralysis and recommended special treatment for same. It was moved by -Mr Bell; .seconded by Mr Ojßegan, that the matter be referred to the Medical Superintendent. Mr Auld brought up the matter of repairs to spouting and expressed the thanks of patients for comforts provided.

Mr Russell, Hearth Inspector, be asked for advice so as to instal this on modern lines and asking that the matter be .left in the hands of. the M edical Superintendent and town committee with power- to act —Agreed to. COUNTY COUNCIL. The Inangaiiua County Council met yesterday there being present: Crs L. J. Bell (chairman),. J. B. Auld, J. O’Regan, W. Blackadder T. R. Watson, J. 0. Byrne, A. Garroll..-- ' Mr D. J. Evans, Hon. i.. Secretary West Coast. Provincial ’ Court, f Dunedin Exhibition, wrote - asking +'or names of representatives appointed to Central Executive. It wasj resolved that the secretary be notified that the local bodies of the West Coast are unanimous in support of the West Coast Court at the Exhibition, to make a sufficient display, fhereiore this Council withdraws the proposal to vote £5O for the West Coast Court at the Exhibition. , Tlie of the Reefton. -Progress -League wrote regarding' • the fence surrounding the Soldiers’ Memorial. Cr. O’Regan moved -and Or Carroll seconded that the resolution of the Council that the engineer should proceed with the erection of the fence bo given effect to—Carried. F. Creighton wrfyte drawing attention to the ■ state of footbridge across Marnia River. Cr Blackadder said the bridge had rotted down. He moved that a grant for the bridge be asked for. Seconded b.y Cr Carroll and carried. ' 1 ■' The secretary of the Reefion School Committee wrote applying lor use of tractor for levelling school ground. Moved that it be granted when available, provided they pay the cost.
Mr A. Marsden waited upon the Council re his contract for the Byrne’s Road. Mr Brett said he informed Mr Marsden he must sign me contract before he. did any work. Mr Marsden said he. commenced the contract oil February 16, and on February 20 he asked Mr Brett to inspect what lie was doing. Mr urett met him on Monday last and told him not to do any more on the contract. Ho objected to the way the engineer spoke to him on the matter. The Council decided that unless Mr Marsden signed the contract he had no standing whatever. The AVaiuta School Committee wrote asking for repairs to road. Engineer instructed to attend to the matter. The reports of the Town Foreman, Sexton, and Inspector of Nuisances, were read and received. It was' resolved that the engineer be instructed to call tenders for improvements to Waiuta Domain to close at next meeting. That, the Mines Department be written to and asked to authorise £2OO on account of IJlackwr.ter-Wa-iuta road. . That; the Minister of Mines be asked. for a detailed account of amounts received by way of Gold Fields Revenue.

That the School Committee be given permission to remove the surplus soil from the school grounds to where directed bv the engineer. That the engineer be instructed to have the Boatmen’s Cemetery put in repair. That the ’.natter of redecking the bridge on the road to Burke’s Creek and -repairs £0 the road be referred to the engineer. That the road repairs needed along the road near the Maruia Settlement be attended to m place of repairs authorised at last meeting. The ter to bo. left in the hands of Mi’ Blackadder. That the next meeting of the Council bn held on Thursday, April 23, and that the'County Offices will be closed from' Thu’rsday, April 9, at 5 p.m. until Wednesday, April at 9 a.m.
