PACIFIC FLIGHT
AMERICAN ATTEMPT OFF.

WELLINGTON. Feb. 6. News has been received officially that, the American trans-Pacific flight, in connection with the visit of the American fleet to New Zealand and Australia has.been abandoned for official reasons,. It is stated by the Secretary of the United States Navy, that the fli/' ■ cannot be arranged with the fleet man. oeuvres at Honolulu, because ip would po disturb these movements'as to practically destroy the object i n holding them. The Navy Department, however, is developing a plan by which it is hoped to have a non-stop flight from ’Frisco t/6 Honolulu,, and if this is satisfactory,, the ..matter of extending the flight to Australia and New Zealand may be taken qn again, bvt no flight can be made during the fleet’s riianoeuvres al Honolulu, or on its cruise to those waters.
