With Alphonse at the piano, •they ■will 1 ■ open ...with “Where . There’s, a Will There’s a Way,” and ' Wendy daintily gowned, sings “I Want a:Boy,’.’ with much archness. Alphonse ■■■ tells some funny “drunk stories.” which create, much merriment, and he brings out thejiumour and pathos bf that tale of a French-, poilu “Alphonse,” and his “Tommy” pfaL The couple then present a clever and diverting medley of popular songs aptly interwoven, and for full measure to pleased patrons, Wendy adds a very amusing burlesque of one of “Fuller’s Royal Nine Wonders,” singing ‘‘Carolina Dinah.”'
THE SEA HAWK; The Sea Hawk, the finest entertainment that the movies has yet given to the world will be shown here on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday next. It is excellent, not billy as a spectacle, bpt as a drama and as a recreation of the Elizabethan period. Some of the most enthralling scenes of the imagination materialise before one’s eyes—the stately Spanish galloons, the boarding parties in action, the tranquility of England’s coastline, and -the glamour .of-Algerian’palaces, harems, and bazaars. The producer has work with the eye and taste of an artist,, and the result is a film by an American producer and American actors which will please even the most exacting English critic. Milton Sills does the best work of his career as Sir Oliver ‘ T r esilian—the .Sea Hawk. As an interpreter of modem characters he is one who has ribt been always admired perhapsi, but in this role he is everything that. is admirable. Wallace Beery, one of the finest character actors on the screen, displays h's genius in the role of a cut-throat skipper vrid supplies the comedy relief. T&, pa me actor has made a very kirigly King Richard in his day. ’Enid Bennett’s role is not one that calls for unstinted admiration, for Rosamund is noT the woman to appeal to everybody, but the actress handles the part well. All the other characters are in excellent hands, and the “mob scenes” portraying the soldiers bn the top,.decks of "The galleons and the slaves at the oars in the galleys are splendidly done.
