SUMMER CUP.\ (Special to “Star.”) AUCKLAND, December 29. Acron was scratched for the Auckland Cup, and once again Ahuriri was made a strong favourite, while there was very little difference in the support received by Locanda Mac, Jewel and Logan Chief, who were backed in that older. Jewel dwelt at the post, and Locanda Mac was 1 half turned round when the signal was given. Ahuriri went away smartly and at once took charge. Locanda Mac soon made up his lost ground, and at the end of half a mile he was on terms with Ahuriri,

and after this pair came Dreamalion,Logan Chief, Lady Joan, Man o‘ Wai’ and Jewel. 1 There was practically no change in-the order 6Ver the second circuit, and entering the last lap Locanda Mac was just in front of Ahuriri, with Logan Chief third and Lady Joan and Man o’’War next. Going along the back Man o* War put in a good run, and Logan Chief also improved his position. The latter was in second place when they reached the . straight, and. staying on' well h§ beat Locanda Mac by three-quarters of a length. Man o’ War was third a length away, with Ahuriri fourth and Jewel next.
