LEAGUE FOOTBALL
JUNIOR KNOCK-OUT CUP.
(Notes by “Scribe”)
Trained to the minute, tire Marist and Blackball junior teams should provide a great contest in the final of the Knock-out Cup at Cobden on Sunday. Marists have selected a great team, and several of their* prominent players earlier in the season, now find themselves only emergencies. There has been no respite in the preparation of the Blackball team. The game starts at 3 p.m.
1 The Addington visit having been declared off, Runangfi. and Greymouth, Third Grade will play a match at; Dunollie on Sunday. The first match in the Fourth Grade Knock-out Cup between Runanga and Marists is set down for 1.30 p.m. on Sunday at Dunollie. A close contest may be anticipated. Waiuta have the right to challenge for the Shield at present held by Marists, but they must await their turn to play. Runanga meet the holders at the Rec. next Saturday and Blaickballl play the winners thereafter. Waiuta’s opportunity will be at the following week-end, but the challenge must be made through the Centre, and one must also be sent to the Club holding the trophy. Devonport and Marists play off.in the final of the Senior Championship at Auckland to-morrow.
The following players will represent Greymouth Third Grade against Runanga at Dunollie on Sunday:— Rooney, Hewlett, Tvvohill, Russell, McHerus, Cooper, Morrissey, Nash (2), Johnson, Garth, Barrow, Rodgers, Tyson and Almond. McGee, not being reinstated, is not available. ’Bus leaves Post Office at 2.15 p.m.
