OPERA HOUSE. “Timothy’s Quest,” a First National picture will be the big feature at the Opera’ House to-night and to-mor-row night. The story of the two slum children, who, in fear of being sent to an asylum, seek a real home* —whimsically termed a home with a little “h” ■ instead of a Home with, a big “H”— is the refreshing novel. Their brave journey takes* them to the quiet, green little village "in Maine, to the very doorstep of such a farm as their minds had pictured. Curious conditions found inside the house, and the' manner in which those conditions are overcome, enhance the simple story with a real plot. TOWN HALL. ■ Fire! Fire! Fire! Closer and closer crept the smoke and flames toward the body of the man who slept undisturbed through the approaching danger. Then came the deluge of icy water, and Rochester waked to find that he had been saved from death by the girl against whom he planned to sin. See “Jane Eyre” ,at the matinee in the Town Hall to-day, and again to-night for the last time. FANCY DRESS BALL. In the Miners’ Hall, Runanga, on Friday, July 11, at 8 p.m., the Rovers Fdotb'all team will' hold their plain and fancy dress ball. Judging by the interest being taken by .the ladies, the gathering should be a record. A special feature of the evening will be the ; waltzing competition, the music for which will be supplied by Bonetti’s jazz orchestra. For the convenience of Cobden and Greymouth residents arrangements have been made with Mr H. Hajin to run liis ’bus, leaving Mr Kim Williams’s corner at 8 o’clock, and returning after the dance.
