Stewart, of Cobden, who has for,.some time been an inmate of the Grey River Hospital, has recovered and returned home.
Mr C. E. Craig, leaves Westport this week to take the position of Editor-Manager of the Murchison Standard. The Rev. A. C. Purchas has been offered the Cure of Akaroa, and Mr Purchas has consented to the change. He will be leaving Hokitika probably about August. The death took place on Sunday of Mrs Kitchin, one of the oldest identities of Waimangaroa township. Deceased. was 61 years of age. She leaves a husband and family. A London cablegram stated that Lord Dudley’s marriage to Miss Gertie Millar (Mrs. L. Monckton) has been arranged at the British Consulate on Wednesday to be followed by a relig-
ious ceremony. The death of Mr Ernest Henry Burley toolj place suddenly at'his residence liotokohu on Sunday. The deceased had been in ill-health for some ifime, but his death was unexpected. " He died of internal haemorrhage. The late Mr Burley was a farmer, and 46 years of age. He leaves a -widow and three daughters. A farewell social and dance is to he held to-morrow night in Carey’s HaU, Cobden to bid farewell to Miss O’Brian who has been infant mistress in the Cobden school for the last eight years. •ward Francis Stokes, youngest son o Mr Joseph Stokes, took place at St Patrick’s- Church this morning, Rev Father O’Regan officiating. Misi M. Nestor, cousjn of the bride, acter as bridesmaid and Mr W. Oliver af best man. The bride was given awaj by Mr F. Roberts. After the ceremom a reception was held at Harker’s Uc rooms and Mr and Mrs Stokes lefi for South Westland where their honeymoon will be spent. The death took place, after a long illness, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs C. J. Atkin., Westport on Saturday, ■ of Mrs Sara Ann Lamont, widow of the late Malcolm Lamont. She was 64 years of age. and a native of Oxford, Canterbury, and leaves a family of four daughters and two sons, Mesdames C. J. Atkin, F. Grimes (Westport), A. Philpott (Palmerston North) and Miss E. Lamont (Greymouth) and Messrs C. Lamont church) and N. Lamont (Tauranga), also a brother,' Mr G. F. Bryan of Westport. .... . - . , . - .
