(By “Arlington.”) Nominations for all events in connection with the Westland Racing Club’s meeting close at 9 o’clock tonight. Handicaps for the Westport Trotting Club’s Meeting are due on Monday. There will be racing to-morrow at Methven. The Waikato Trotting Club’s meeting takes place to-morrow at Hamilton. It is reported from the Waikato that R. Hannon intends appealing to the Racing Conference against the disqualification of his two-year-olds Quinette and Abbey Bell, who ran first and second on the concluding day of the Hamilton Meeting, when carrying apprentices who had bften wrongly granted allowances. Guess somebody will have the wind up in the meantime! At a meeting of the Canterbury Jockey Club on Tuesday, L. G. King’s application for a jockey’s license was not recommended. It was decided to recommend the extension of the conditional jockeys’ licenses of E. J. Ludlow, C. F. Rask and W. Scobie. Miss Gunn has sold the pacing mar Cardinal . nd Blue to the New Bright m trainer, G. Anderson. Grand Denver is showing signs of soreness, and will not be a starter at New Brighton. The pacing mare / Vera’s Doll has joined A. Hendriksen’s team, and will be prepared for the Greymouth Trotting Club’s meeting.

Information to hand this morning states that Glentruin will not be taken to Auckland, as her connections consider she is too high up in the weights. Now that her prospects of winning handicaps are not good, she may be reserved for weight-for-age events. ' Counter Attack has been freely nominated for the Manawatu meeting, and the prospects are that he will be raced in the North instead of coining here for the local meetings. The Maniapoto gelding Ngata may be regarded as one of the most versatile performers in the Dominion at the present time. He is equally good in the winter or summer season. Two seasons ago he was tried at hurdle racing, and won the Century Hurdles at Wanganui. Last year he came back to the flat, and was in the money eight times in succession. His wins included the Foxton and Wanganui Cups. Brought back to the jumping business at Wanganui, he scored in the May Hurdles with 12st. up. When he Avon at Feeding recently he was credited with running seven furlongs inside 1.28. The crack English jockey, Donoghue, has just published his reminiscences in England under the title of “Just My Story.” The cost of the book is 21/-. If some well-known Australian jockeys would publish “just their stoiy” without omission (writes “Pilot”), they would have thousands of interested and astonished readers.

The locally-owned Prince Ferouz has established a great record for consistency this season. He has started four teen times, and has been eleven times in the money, winning two arces, with five seconds and four thirds. His stake earnings are £9OO. A. D. Webtser’s team for the local meetings will comprise, Matareka, Radiac, Bonecto and Probate. Radiac and Matareka are very forward and should more than pay expenses on the trip, while Bonecto is said to be the makings, of a champion over the hurdles. Royal Present is the latest scratching for the Auckland Cup. “Look at my Tail!” is the name conferred upon a filly by Adular racing in England this season under the colours of Mr. James A. de Rothschild. “Young Man’s Fancy’’ is the title under which a filly by Junior from Enthusiast Lass is struggling in the Old Country. Ahuriri is reported to be none the wrose for his exertions at Alexandra Park, and he is likely to see a. short price for the Waikato Trotting Cup tomorrow. H. Gaskill’s team for the Greymouth Trotting Club’s meeting will comprise Marietta, Delta, Nelson’s Guest and Red Peter.
