COTTON PRICES HIGHER. NEW YORK, Nov. 7. The cotton market, taking a lead from Liverpool, has continued a sensational rise here and at New Orleans, gains of one hundred points being reported. December cotton, is selling in excess of thirty-four cents per pound, and all futures are showing remarkable strength. The buying movement continues unabated and is expected to persist for some time thus indicating that the cotton producers may now expect the : highest prices since the war. ’ HOMELAND SALES. LONDON, November 7. At the tallow sales 882 casks were offered, and 761 sold, at par to six--3 pence advance. Mutton fetched 44/- - to 39/-, and beef 43/- to 39/-. t At the wool sales merinos were in b very small supply. There was an i average selection of all classes of 5 crossbreds. Prices linn all round, - with a hardening tendency for slipes 3 which are now five per cent, above f opening sales. New Zealand 1.8.5. (Canterbury) fetched 28d per lb; “C. I\/T n ” 991 d
M.C.” 22%d. WOOL PRICES. SYDNEY, November 9. The wool sales yesterday included five bales from direct descendants ot the flock, whereby Captain McArthur founded the wool industry m 1/J/. The wool brought twenty-live pence. It good quality and still retains the real merino characteristics.
