■ — — Mr and Mrs Ji. Cullen left for Christchurch to-day. Mr R. A. Brooks returned by today’s express to Christchurch. Messrs J. D. Wingham and J. McGrath returned from Christchurch yesterday. Mr W. S. Meldruili, S.M., and Miss Meldrum returned from Christchurch this afternoon. Mrs J. G. Coates left this morning on return to Wellington owing to illness in the family. Mr W. Newton, Conciliation Commissioner, left for ' Wellington this morning. Mr S. O’Brien, whose mother, Airs P. O’Brien, is an inmate of the Grey River Hospital, arrived from Christchurch last evening. , The Rev. J. A. Paterson and Airs Paterson, who have been spending a brief holiday on the West Coast, returned to Christchurch this morning. Mr Maurice Baker, of the literary staff of the “Otago Daily Times,’’ left for Chrstchurch to-day after spending ■* a few days on the West Coast. Three members of the Buller District Hospital staff, Sisters Muller and McKittrick and Nurse Quinn, are leaving the institution. I Mr B. C. Ministerial special train yesterday and proceeded to-day to inspect Lake ' Hochstetter. ' Constable Cooper, who was recently appointed to the local Police Force, has been transferred to Westport. He left this morning to commence his new duties. Constable J. Shine, who was formerly stationed here, takes his place. / Mr P. H. Passau has received notice of his transfer from Greymouth to the managership of the Bank of New Zealand at Te Kuiti. Mr D. Standage, manager of the Westport branch, will fill the vacancy at Greymouth, and Mr F .A. de Tourettes, at present manager/ of the Reefton branch, will take charge/ of the Westport branch. The death took place at Victoria Hospital, Wellington yesterday of Airs Harris, widow of the late Mr John Harris of Rim.u, and for many years Z a welLknown resident of the district. Airs Harris was a daughter (Florence) of the late Air and Mrs Upjohn, formerly of Rimu and Hokitika, and a brother of Mr Charles Upjohn of Ross. Deceased had been in failing health for some time. The wedding took place yesterday at St. Stephen’s Church, Reefton, of Aliss Seneth Saunders, eldest daughter of Air and Airs Wr Saunders, of Black’s Point, to William Allen Cairns, eldest son of Air and Airs W.Cairns, The Terrace,! Reefton. The service was fully choral. The bride entered the church on the arm of her father, who gave her away. She wasr exquisitely attired in a frock of creme duchess mousseline, made with radi- ’ um lace sleeves and long-waisted effect with swathed belt, and carried a shower bouquet of pink • and ’< cream flowers and maidenhair fern. Her only attendant was her sister, Aliss Elsie Saunders, who wore a smart and attractive frock of kingfisher blue duchess mousseline embroidered with steel beads. This toilette was completed with a hat of kingfisher blue lace and' grey georgette crown. She carried a beautiful shower bouquet. Air W. Saunders, jnr., attended as best man. Mr and Mrs Cairns left by the afternoon train for Palmerston North en route for Shannon where lie has been transfer- ■ red, the bride travelling in a smart grey coat frock and toque with grey marabout and grey suede shoes and stockings.
