DEER DEPREDATIONS. WELLINGTON, November 7. Air Bollard stated to-day that the Government had removed the protection of deer in certain districts in Nelson, Marlborough, North Canterbury, Westland, Otago, Waitati, and Southland, owing to depredations on the farms, and was also granting £lOOO. payable 2/- per head for destruction in unprotected districts, and 1/- in other districts, where the societies undertake culling.
