Tho first waves arrived at 7.14 on Saturday morning, and reached the maximum at 7.30. Smaller tremors were recorded on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. DETERMINED SUICIDE. BRISBANE, November 6. A sensational suicide is reported at Bowen, of an unkonwn man who in a naked condition, entered the railway yards and climbed into a locomotive. Eluding the fireman, he opened the firebox and dived into the furnace. Attempts to drag him out failed. Before the fire was extinguished, the body was charred. The man’s clothes were subsequently found in the yard. The victim was presumably demented.
