The quickstep is .in two grades;. a, two test selections ;b one test, one own r choice. 6 The following have entered the A r » grade:—Queen Alexandra (Wangas nui), First Canterbury Mounted I- Rifles (Ashburton), St. Kilda (Dunedin), City of Sydney (formerly Red.t fern). Woolston, Timaru, Invercargill >. Hibernian, Invercargill Battalion, y Municipal Silver (Runanga). e The following have entered for the B Grade : —Hastings Citizens, Greymouth Municipal, Christchurch Tramit ways, Oamaru Municipal, Dunedin b City Tramway, Nelson Garrison, g Dunedin Artillery, Invercargill Batci ration, New Brighton, Kaiapoi. Inn vercargill Battalion will decide later
which grade it will compete. The majority of the bands have also entered for the hymn selection. Large entries have been received for the solo, trio, and quartette competitions. The prize money, £l5OO, is a record for any band contest in Australia or New Zealand. Selections, solos, trios, and quartettes take place in King Edward Barracks ; and the quick step on the Metropolitan Ground. Dr J. 0. Bradshaw will judge the test selections and the music in the quickstep, and Mr F. G. McLeod (Napier) will judge the solos, trios and quartettes. The military judges have not yet
been appointed.
