A correspondent writes to the ‘Manawatu Standard” : “There is a very simple cure for the ’Hu in its first stage that is well within the reach of all, and that is castor oil. It seems to attack the ’flu germ at once and hill it. I have proved the cure on myself and several others, and in each case, the patient lias been up and well next day. lam sure if everybody knew about it and took a. sufficient dos» (a tablespoonful and a half) there would bo an end to the epidemic. Several Australian mining men have returned to St. John, Newfoundland, utterly disgusted with the news of a gold find which took them to Labrador coast early in the summer. For a .year or more reports of a. rich find in Labrador had been circulated throughout Eastern Canada and the United States. Numerous expeditions resulted in total failure. One Australian party sent an aeroplane expedition. but found nothing worth staking. The region is inhospitable, and the weather was wretched.
