The Alexander is due here to-mor-I row from New Plymouth and loads coal for Nelson and Motueka. The Waimea is due here to-morrow from Wellington direct. On discharge of general cargo, she proceeds to Westport, Nelson and Wanganui. The Joan Craig is due from New Plymouth early to-morrow. She loads a full cargo of timber for Australia. The Opua is due from Tarakohe tomorrow. She will load coal for that port. The Kaiapoi is loading coal for Napier and Gisborne and is expected to sail to-day. LEVUKA UNDAMAGED.

ColJ lin, formerly chief steward on the j Mapourika, which used to run between | Greymouth and Wellington, is on f leave of absence for six months to manage a business for his brother in , Christchurch. Since the Mapourika ’ ceased to run Mr. Collin has been engaged in cargo- vessels trading around the Coast. When a boy Mr. Collin ran away from home. This was about 1898. He joined a sailing vessel at Cardiff trading around the Canary Islands. He then joined a G.S.N. Co. vessel at London, which traded from London to Hamburg and around,the Mediterranean. Later he joined a pleasure yacht, the Argonaut, used by society people of England. He was five years on this vessel, and was able to visit all parts of the Holy Land and Egypt. After a holiday with his parents in Montreal, he worked in the timber areas of British Columbia. He joined the Union Company’s service at Vancouver, signing on the Aorangi and later the Matai, which used to carry on the Vancouver-Sydney service. He was later on the Moeraki and the Manuka (which started the Wellington San Francisco service) and after that on the Mapourika.
