LOST DESTROYERS
.... f““ ABNORMAL CURRENT BLAAIED. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) NEW YORK, September 11. 'l’he seven wrecked destroyers have been abandoned as far as salvage is concerned. 'I ho only chance to secure some valuable equipment. None of the hulls is worth raising. The Cuba is also a. total loss. Everybody aboard the steamer was rescued. The naval inquiry ,disclosed, that the destroyers were carried off the course by an abnormal current, but would have been abandoned in time by directional instructions, had not tlie radio air jamb followed the wreck of the Cuba. BATTLESHIP AIISHAP. NEW YORK, September —. A message from San Pedro reports that the battleship Texas collided with the steamer "Steel Seafarer, ’ in a heavy fog, in the vicinity where the seven destroyers went on the rocks on Saturday. The report indicates that the mcrchant ship was badly damaged. r lhe Texas was steaming from San Francisco with live, other battleships.
