COUNTRY RACING CLUBS. (Per Press Association. | WELLINGTON, July 11. At the Conference of the Country Racing Clubs, the annual report recommended the fixing of headquarters in Wellington, and the appointment of a permanent secretary. Fifty extra permits were required for racing, and a Bill providing for this increase has been drafted. The report condemned tlio practice of holding meetings outside of club’s c-wn districts, and pointed out that this destroyed the argument so frequently used that each district was entitled to have its own meeting at its own doers. The report was adopted, and furtherhostile comment was made on the practice mentioned. A resolution was passed protesting against the action of the Racing Conference in imposing penalties and conditions on persons who have been granted permission to enter racecourses during a meeting. Mr. W. Jewell, Foxton, was elected President.
