MR MASSEY’S PEERAGE
M. L. C’s SUGGESTION, (Special to “Star.”) WELLINGTON, June 22. The Right Hon. the Prime Minister may yet be elevated to the Peerage and be addressed as “My Lord.” At least, the Hon.’ Sir T. I Mackenzie, M.L.C. is anxious that plain “Mr.” Massey should acquiesce in any proposition that might be put to him to become a. peer of the British Realm. 'The suggestion was mr.do quite seriously by Sir Thomas when speaking in the Legislative Council to-day. Mir. Massey, he said, had .rendered distinguished servicb to New'Zealand, bur it had been rumoured that he might retire from public life at some tiiiie in the future. Tie (Sir Thomas) did not know whether that , was correct or not, but if so he thought that Mr. Massey should go Home as a representative of New Zealand and ■ accept a. seat in the House of Peers. Were he to do this, Mr. Massey would have a higher status as a. representative of the Dominion and would be in a position to render further high service to this country.
