A complete agreement has been reached by the Conciliation Council in the women printers’ assistants’ dispute, including an ! all-round increase in wages of 6/ per week. The hours remain at 45 per week. i INFLUENZA. AUCKLAND, June. 23. During the last two months, only a few cases of pneumonic influenza have been ’ notified in the Auckland Health district. All we.re recorded during the present month. An intimation of a fourth case was received yesterday. SUDDEN DEATH. MASTERTON, June 26. Mr Michael Molloy, aged 73, a native of Ireland, and a resident of Masterton for 40 years, died suddenly, while gathering wood at the Waitara River to-day. At the inquest the verdict was that death was due to heart failure, following overexertion. MAN’S THROAT CUT. WELLINGTON, JUNE 23. By cutting his throat with a razor, William Johnston, 54 years of age, residing at 21 Crieff Street, Northland, committed suicide at an early hour this morning. He was discovered at 4.40 a.m., and retmoved to the hospital but died on the way. He was married and had been in ill health for some weeks. NEW CHEESE FACTORY. INVERCARGILL, June 22. A factory at Mataura, capable of handling 15,000 gallons of milk daily, was oupened to-day. The equipment set a new standard, and the factory is the most up-to-date one in the South Island, as well as being the largest single-roof factory in this Island. The output in the present year will bo 11,000 crates of cheese. WATERSIDERS’ DISPUTE. GISBORNE, June 23. The watersiders demanded that the Gisborn Sheepfarmers’ Company’s permanent lightermen should join the union. The / lightermen refused and the watersiders intimated that they would not work with the former. A Disputes’ Committee meetfug was abortive, and the employers communicated with the National Disputes’ Committee. The latter replied that two members were coming to Gisborne to assist in the settlement. Only ships using the Sheep Farmers’ lighters are affected. Meanwhile the watersiders were instructed to work the lighters, but none offered to. work this morning.
