ADDINGTON SALE. (Special to “Star.”) CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 21. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report as follows: — At the Addington sale to-day there were large yardings in both the i’at and store sheep departments. There was a medium yarding of fat lambs, which sold well at 10. pl for the primest. Store Sheep.—Every yard was full and a good steady sale resulted. Best crossbred ewes 30/- to 33/-, medium 26/6 to 28/-; rape lambs up to 27/-; wethers to 31/-. For fat sheep there was a drop from last week of 1/6 to 2/- for both ewes and wethers. Fat Cattle. —A large entry of 440 which was in excess of butchers’ requirements and consequently values were lower than those ruling last week, when there was a small yarding. Prime beef 30/- to 33/-, medium 27/- to 29/- per 100. Heavy steers were lower by 30/- and medium weights by £1 on last week’s prices. Prime ox, 650 to 700 £lO to £ll 10s; 750 to SOO, £l2 to £l3 10s. Heavy weight steers £l4 10s to £l5 10s. Store Cattle.—A medium yarding chiefly odd lots. There was a keen sale for all good class steers. The National Mortgage and Agency Co., Ltd., report: — At Addington to-day there was a heavy yarding of fat cattle, and prices receded from 32/6 to 35/- on prime beef and 30/- on light beef. The price per hundred paid was 30/to 32/6 for primes and 27/- to 29/6 for medium steer beef, the top price being £l5 17s Gd. Prime beet £ll 15s to £l4, medium £9 10s to £ll 12s Gd. Extra prime heifers £ll 2s 6d, prime £S to £9 15s. Extra prime cows to £9 17s 6d, medium £6 15s to £9.
A small entry of store cattle and a good sale. Three-year steers made £7 5s to £7 17s Gd, two year £3 10s to £4, good 2-year heifers to £4 ss; yearling heifers 35- to 45/-. A total of 4121 fat lambs was yarded, and exporters operated. Values were 10 pence to 101 pence over all for primes and 9ijd for seconds. Fat Sheep.—A heavy yarding, a number of unfinished lines coming forward. Prices receded 1/6 per head on wethers and an average ol 2/per head on ewes. Exporters operated. Extra prime wethers made 34/6 to 38/6, prime 31/6 to 3.1/-, medium 27/- to 30/-. Extra prime ewes 30/to 33/-, prime 23/- to 29/9, medium 25/- to 27/. .
A very heavy yarding of store sheep came forward from every district* about thirty thousand being penned. The sale was firm on a lower basis, being 2/- down for breeding ewes anti 1/6 on average lambs. Wethers are still very linn. LON DO N MARKETS. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.)
