OPERA HOUSE. Marshall Neilan’s inimitable picturisation of “Penrod’ ’in 8 reels will be the great attraction at the Opera House to-night only. “Penrod’' is Marshall Neilan’s long promised screen version of Booth Tarkington's inimitable boyhood characters. It is the first time that it has been presented as a complete feature subject. Freckles Barry plays the title roie with care free ease, supported by a capable cast of at least forty adults and juveniles. They include Majorie Daw, Tully Marshall, Frederick (Sunshine Sammy) Morrison and Claire McDowell, All the impishness of boyhood jumps to the screen in “Penrod.” Produced by Marshall Neilan from Booth Tarkington’s inimitable stories, the picture makes no pretence of “high. brow” study; but offers an ebulliency of modern boyhood for sheer entertainment.
ROSINA BUCKMAN.
A most flattering reception was again accorded Miss Rosina Buckman and her associates at the Opera House last evening, when the final concert nt the Greymouth season was given. A delightful programme of music was considerably augumented by the encores demanded after each item. Miss Buckman confirmed her triumph of the first concert, and Miss Adelina Leon (’cellist), Mr Maurice D’Oisly (tenor), and Mr Percy Kahn (pianist) again proved themselves artists of the first rank. Their visit to Groymouth has been a milestone in musical history. The party left for South Westland to-day where they will visit the Franz Joseph Glacier.
