BOWLING

GREYMOUTH CLUB.

The annual meeting of the Grey mouth Bowling Club last evening. at the Club’s Pavilion was a very happy affair, Mr J. Steer presiding over an almost record attendance. _ The annual report as previously published in the “Star”) was taken as read, and in moving its adoption, the chairman said that the past season Juul been very successful, both in play and finance. The committee had been able to pay off £lOO of the outstan V ing debentures, and it was hoped to wipe off the remaining £2OO before the end of another two years. The Caw would then’-be entirely free from debt. Ho thanked the Vice-President (Mr D. Tennent) for acting as his deputy durin., the early part'of the season when he’was in Australia, and lie also thanked the officers and members for the support given to him during his term. Wet weather had spoilt, last season s play and owing to the holidays being wet, no tournaments had been held. 'I ho report was adopted. Mr D. McKay read the balance sheet which showed the club to be in a. very healthy financial condition, the asset, exceeding the liabilities by over £BOO. It was stated that not one member s subscription was outstanding, Mr J. F. White being mainly responsible for late collections.

Trophies won during the season were presented to the winners as follows: Singles Championship Trophy (pri' sented by Mi- D. Tennent) and Jay Shield: Mr I’. Buck. Championship Pairs : Messrs J. A, Christie and AV. Blair. Club Pairs : Messrs AV. Graham and C. Skoglund. Lyttelton Cup : Messrs AV. Scott and J. Steer. The election of ollicers resulted : — President, Mr I). Tennent; vice-pre-sident, Mr E. Cameron; secretary and treasurer, Air D. McKay ; auditor, Mr AA . R. Kettle ; trustees, Messrs T. Jones and J. C. Gittos ; delegate to Vest Coast Centro, Air J. Ring; committee (10 nominations). Messrs J. Steer, T. Brebnor, J. F. AVhite, AV. Scott, AV. Cochrane and T. Topliss. Votes of thanks were carried by acclamation io the ladies who assisted at the afternoon teas (especially io Mrs >'t('ci and iamily and Dlrs D. Tennent and family) the greenkeeper (Air AV. bairhall), the outgoing officers, and thj Press. Eight new members were proposed. Eiuhf refreshments were subsequently served. J
