MB STATHAM WITHDRAWS.

WELLINGTON, June 26. Mr 0. E. Statham, M.P., who has been a member of the United LiberalLabour Party, since Febraury last, has notified Mr T. M. Wilford, Leader of that party, of his intention to resign from the party, and has already resigned. In reference to the resignation, Mr Wilford states the couse taken by Mr Statham is one with which ho entirely agrees, for it is impossible for him and Mr Statham to jee eye to eye with one another. “We have parted good friends,” said Air Wilford, “and there is no feeling of hostility in any way between us. Air Statham is quite entitled to follow the course he is following.” SIR J. WARD’S DECISION ROTORUA, June 26. Alessrs Clinkard, Richards, and others have received a letter from Sir Joseph Ward, thanking them warmly for their appreciation and kindness in asking him to become a candidate for Rotorua constituency, but after fully considering the matter he regretted he could not see hi s way clear to stand.
