ARAHURA FAT STOCK SALE. At the Arahura yards yesterday 75 head of cattle and 110 fat sheep were submitted to public competition at which there was a representative attendance of buyers. Prices for all finished pens of beef showed a. distinct improvement on last sale and the quality being good sold readily. Sheep also sold well. Messrs W. Jeffries, and Co. sold as under:— On account of Air. J. AlcGregor 65 ewes and wethers at 22/-. On account Air. Thos. O’Neill 47 fat ewes at 22;-. On account Air. P. Olsen 2 springers at £8 15s, 1 cow at £4. On account Air. J. Collett 6 handy weight bullocks at £8 10s, 2 at £8 2s 6d, 1 at £B, 3 at £6 12s 6d, 2 at £6 2s 6d, 1 heifer at £6, 4 at £5 2s 6d, 1 at £5, 2 at £6, and 1 vealer at £2 15s. On account Air. AL Collett 1 heifer at £7, 1 dry cow at £3 10s. On account Air. Norman Friend, 1 bullock at £9’ 12s 6d, 3 at £7 2s 6d, 2 at £7, 2 at £6 15s, 5 at £6 10s, 2 at £5 2s 6d, 3 at £5, 2 heifers at £5 7s 6d, 2 at £4 2s 6d, 2 steers at £4 and 1 vealer at £1 17s 6d. BUTTER MARKETS. Alessrs Dalgety and Company, Limited, report having received tho following cablegram from their London office under date of 21st inst:—“2280 casks tallow offered, and practically all sold. Since our last week’s report there is an advance of 1/- to 2/-. Fine mutton 40/6. Good mixed 38/- to SS/O.** “Butter market excited. Upward tendency continues. Danish 230/-, New Zealand salted 230/-, Queensland 224/-, Australian saPed and unsalted 224/.” “Cheese.—Market firm. New Zealand coloured 102/-; white 104/-.”
