—— ■—— — GREY ASSOCIATION. The monthly meeting of the urrey Patriotic Association was attended by Messrs J. D. Lynch (chairman), D. McKay, G. A. Blackwood, P. Mackenzie, A. H. McKane, W. R. Kettle, G. E. Perkins, J. Ring, T. Ryan, D. Tennent, H. T. Trowland, J. McLean and the secretary (Captain W. C. S. Colclough). Nine unsatisfactory cases were reported from other associations. Thirty Imperial soldiers were reported ys_ having been assisted. Nine maternity bonuses were passed for payment, and two were held over pending further information,' A soldier ’in very bad health was granted £2 per week for a further three weeks. Application is to be made to the National War Funds Council for a grant of £l5 on behalf of an Imperial soldier. The case of a returned soldier who has entered a sanatorium was referred to the R.S.A. for a report. An application for assistaiTce was referred to Auckland. The secretary reported that a returned soldier had been granted temporary, assistance. An application for a transfer from the Wellington Association to the Grey Association was referred to Wellington for further particulars. __ The National War Funds Council refunded £5 paid to an Australian soldier. . An ex-soldier intimated that he haa secured employment and did not require further assistance. It was decided to refund £25 to the Westland Association in connection with a soldier’s hospital fees. The R.S.A. recommended that a soldier’s widow be granted £1 per week for six months, and that £1 10s per week be granted in a similar case.— Approved. The following notice of motion was agreed to :—That in future maternity bonuses be paid as follow: First child, £8 8s; second child, £5 5s ; third child, £3 3s, the payments then to pease. If there are twins, an extra £2 2s to be added rto the respective amounts. _ The rate previously was £8 Bs, irrespective of the number of children, and £l6 16s for twins. During the past month, maternity bonus applications totalled £75 12s.
