ENGINEERS’ DISPUTE
. EMPLOYERS’ TERMS REJECTED. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association J LONDON, March 25. The ballot of the British engineering workers on the employers’ demand has been held. It has resulted as follows : For acceptance, 49,503 ; against acceptance, 164,759; majority against, 115,256. ' Tho result of the ballot will probably mean that the lock-out will be applied to all the unions in a bulk by the employers. LATER— The Engineering and Shipbuilding Federation have decided to advise all their affiliated members to cease work on Tuesday until the result of their ballot on the bonus cut (cabled on March 17) is known. The engineering negotiations will b© resumed on Monday. SITUATION MORE HOPEFUL. NEGOTIATIONS RESUMED. LONDON, March 25The engineering situation is more hopeful. The employers and unions have agreed to resume negotiations on Monday. The lock-out notices will probably be withdrawn, while the negotiations proceed.
