— ROUAIANIAN VILLAGE TRAGEDY. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, Alareh 22. A message from Bucharest says that mad with hunger after pitiless snowstorms, a pack of wolves entered the village of Pietrosin at nightfall and carried off five small children, whom they tore ravenously to pieces before their parents’ eyes. Responding to a. frantic alarm raised by the horror-stricken mothers, the entire village turned out, armed with sticks, and chased the invaders They found the pack reinforced by a large number of famished wolves. The animals turned on the villagers who( without arms, were compelled to ig it for their lives. A fierce struggle killed an lOUl '’ and ° nly ° ne W ° lf was so badlv torn that thp died on the RPo t.
