W.C.T.U. CONVENTION. HAMILTON, This Day. The AV C'.T.U. Convention was welcomed last night by the Deputy-Mayor and the member of Parliament for Waikato, the Council of Free Churches, and Mrs- Blamires (President of tne local branch of the W.C.T.U.) this morning over one hundred delegates answered the roll-call. Ihe secretary s report showed that sixteen new unions were formed during the year. the membership is about six thousand.

Mr. John Baird Thompson has been appointed Under-Secretary for Lands in..sucession to Mr. Brodrick, who is retiring on superannuation. Press Association. A Press Association message states that Cabinet has considered the matter of Bishop Liston’s speech and will announce its decision shortly.
