A “DEAD” HUSBAND

AUCKLAND, March 20

Catherine Angus, aged 33, admitted contracting a bigamous marriage. The evidence showed the accused was married at Petone in December of 1909, and recently went throught a form of marriage at Whangarei, stating she was a widow. In a statement the accused said her husband deserted her, and went to flic war. As she heard nothing of him, she presumed that he was dead. After the marriage she left her second husband, and then mot Angus again. Angus said it was his fault. She had believed him dead, as he had changed his name.

She was committed for sentence,
