THE HANNAH—CALLOWAY BOUT The following account of the Hannan versus Calloway bout, fought at Nelson last Saturaay nignt, is 10 bard .- - Round I—Botn1 —Botn boxers were cautious. Cailoway made great efforts to knucK his man out of the ring and nearly succeeded. Calloway’s round. Round 2 —it was Calloway s turn to Have a narrow escape Horn gnuig through. the ropes. Hannah dodgea a wen-meant right. Clinching andon older to break followed. Hannah’s right landed and the round was in nis favor. Round 3. —Calloway led, ana then had another escape, the topes savn g him; Some heavy exchanges followed, and me margin was siigntly in tavern- of the Hustings lad. Round 4. —Calloway opened out and Hannah rctaliatted ’with a budj blow. Calloway then made the pace and boi.n clinched. On breaking Hannah connected witli right and left. Calloway missed. Hannah led and again the margin was his. Round 5- —Calloway attacked with vigour, but: Hannah’s defence was good. The latter then attacked and some pretty exchanges followed, and the round ended a little in Ilann-di’s. favor.
Round 6. —Both now had their second wind. Calloway bored in and received a blow that brought, 1 im to his knees. Hard lighting lollowed nil the end of the round, which was Lannah's.
Round 7. — Hannah opened out. Calloway made a furious rally and had his man on the retreat, llannih gm: in a good upper cut. The roumt mis Calio wav’s.
llound 8. —Hannah uppercut and was once more in the picture. Callaway covered up well. Hannah escaped a. terriiic uppercut.by a shade. The margin was Hannah’s. Round 9.-—Hannah sailed ’.i and scored a knock down. Calloway s pushing tactics were now worrying lim less. Ihe round was Hannah s best effort so far.
Round 30. — Hannah got the. hr.a omit me and Calloway slipped to the floor. A period of clinching foil .w--ed. Calloway was going mg g.ins .ind tiie round was all nis.
Round 11. —This was a good num! to watch, and the long range exchanges Mere very exciting. LallOM’iy again took the honmus.
.Round 12 —This Mas a clinking round and excitement mxis high. Callaway slipped out of trouble cieveily. Both landed rights. Calloway wmrected with a rigdit to the body. Calimvav’s round.
Round 13. — Hannah landed a light left. Lightning exchanges f dlcwrd. Hannah's left was prominent, and Calloway retaliated Mitli his right. Hannah had a little the best ef v ac upfii'ciittiug. Hannah a light left lo the body. CalloM’ay’s useful right M'as piominent. The round ended wi.h honors even.
Round 14.— .Hannah made things willing. C'alloM’ay did the same and misled’connecting M'itii a good one. Hannah a light left and rigdit. A good mix up fidhiM’ed, and both got home M’ith leftmind right SM’ings. Another even round. Round 15. — Excitement M'as nmv at fever heat. Calloway missed with what might have been a knock-mu'. Inlighting followed with no advantage. Hannah landed heavily amt Calloway took the count for two. He slipped again and Hannah made bold' bid lor a k. 0., but Cailoway was xery elusive. A nux-tip on the ropes followed, and honors were even f>r the final round.
On Mr. Bush raising Hannah's Imnd there was a storm of applause. Hannah’s excellent sportsmanship in the ring was again in evniem ?, giving bis man a chance to recover himself after slipping down on more than on? occasion.
