CHRISTMAS TRAGEDY
— On Christmas, night a, tragedy occurred at iShelliield, which resulted in lour deaths. Alter tile conclusion of a party of. relatives the sleepers were awakened by smoke in the bedrooms. They escaped thiough windows ami througu a skylight in the roof. Two girls were afterwards found de.id in a bathroom, one crouching behind the bath, and the. other in the bath huddled over the taps. A man and his grandmother were suffocated in their bedrooms. The lire is believed io have started in gramophone records in the diningroom.
