NOVEL IatOPOSALS. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) SYDNEY, October 26. In the Assembly the Premier, Mr. Dooley, introduced a Bill to amend th© . Parliamentary Casual Vacancies Act. The Bill provides that the leader of a Party whose interests were represented previously in a vacant seat shall have tho right to nominate a member to fill tho vacancy' temporarily until a byelection is held The Bill was introduced as a matter ot urgency in order to fill the Goulburn (National) seat. The Riverina “New State” Conference, sitting in Nairandera, decided that any' new State Parliament should contain not more than 30 members, and that they' bo paid two guineas per sitting and be not paid in the event of their being absent, and also that not more than 60 sittings be held yearly. The Riverina New State movement decided instead of endeavouring to amalgamate with Victoria, that steps should bo taken by' residen'ts of the Monaro electorate (New South Wales) to join with those of East Gippsland (Victoria), for the purpose of forming a new State. WHEAT POOL OPPOSED. SYDNEY, October 26. The Labour Party caucus, nfused tn sanction a Wheat Acquisition Bill, which provided for a wheat pool for New South Wales. The members said they required a guarantee' that the price of bread should be reduced The result was, that the Ministers, who strongly criticised the Party’s procrastination over inaugurating the wheat. pool, adjourned the ciiscussion until Thursday.
