Mrs. T. Sullivan, of Waiuta, was in Greyniouth to-day. Mr. Geo. Duggan, Inspector of Coal Mines, is visiting Westport. Mr. A. Wolfe, of Te Awamutu, left this morning for Christchurch. Mr. H. Hothersall, of Greymouth, left for Christchurch' this morning. Mrs. Wallace, of Redclifrs (Christchurch) is staying with Mrs. R. Alison, Greymouth. Mrs. J. C. Gittos, left for CLiistchurch this morning on a short luliday. x Miss Sullivan, of Australia, is visiting her brother, Mr. T. Sullivan, of Waiuta. The death is reported *rom Ci ristchurch of Mrs. Hendenson, formerly a well-known resident of Reefton. Mr. John Walton, one of Greymouth’s oldest, identities, is sr.ill confined to his room, and his health shows no sign of improvement. Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Hickman left this morning for their home at Glenhope, Canterbury, after a holiday visit to Greymouth. Mr. Brooks, representing Sargooct, Son and Ewen, left for Christcnurc© this morning after a business visit to the West Coast. Mr. Wallis, of the Christchurch branch of Dalgety and Co., Lta., will return by Saturday’s express after spending a fortnight in Greymouth. The funeral of the late Mr. Henry Davis took place privately at Karoro Cemetery yesterday afternoon. Archdeacon Carr conducted the service. Mr. C. Malfroy, of the Forestry Department, who has been visiting Hokitika and Greymouth, returned by the express to-day. The Auckland University Professorial Board will nominate Mr. P. O. Veale, as candidate for the Rhodes scholarship.—Press Association. The funeral of the late Mr. Andrew Whiteside took place yesterday afternoon at the Karoro Cemetery, the service being conducted by Arclujeacon Carr. Sergeant-Major Prestney and family of Westport, arc shortly leaving for Wellington, to which place the Sergeant-Major has been transferred by the Defence Department. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. R. Kettle and their - daughter, who have been visiting Honoliflu, will arrive in Welling ton on Sunday, and Grey mout h on Tuesday evening by the Otira express. Mr. R. P. McCracken, who has been stationmaster at Balclutha for seme years past, has received promotion to be assistant stationmaster at Wellington, with charge of Dambton Station. Mr. G.
