The Maori Council for the Wairoa (Hawke’s Bay) district has taken a forward movement at a recent meeting i by passing a by-law to prohibit the practice of holding a feast (hakari) on the death of any person. The Maoris seconded the suggestion,, considering it was only fit, after their long association with the Europeans, to take this very necessary step. Tire tangi is now being attacked.
