SUGAR SHORTAGE
ACCENTUATED BY THEFTS. ARRESTS IN AUCKLAND. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. Two carters and shipping foremen employed on the wharves have been arrested and charged with being concerned in the theft of sugar from the Chelsea refinery between March 31st and June 30th, during which period forty-two tons were reported missing. The Colonial Sugar Company had offered a reward of £SOO for evidence leading to a conviction.
