Smith by the residents, of Cobden in Cobdon Hall, to-morrow (Friday) evening. A reminder is given of the social and instrumental concert in aid of St. John Ambulance fund at Heppel’s Hall, Totara Flat, to-morrow night. Nancarrow and Go. are offering for sale 50 sides prime Felson Factory cured bacon at 1/6 a lb by the side. The bacon is of splendid quality. Hotelkeepers, etc., should not miss this chance. Mark Sprot and Co. in this issue announce that they have one Ford 5seater touring car for sale which is a late model and fully equipped and in first class going order. The Bowling and Croquet Club will hold another of their popular fortnightly socials in the Druids’ Hall tomorrow evening. This will commence the second series of evenings and it is honed that members will continue to roll up to ensure success. At the Inangahua Junction sale yards on Monday 6th September M'Mahon and Lee will submit to auction 70 head fat cattle, 20 springers ; 15 store bullocks, 750 prime fat wethers and 50 ewes in lamb. A children’s plain and fancy dress ball will be held in the Blaketown pavilion to-morrow (Friday) evening at 7 o’clock and judging' by the interest being displayed by the children and parents it should be a pronounced success. It will be most amusing to see some of the fancy dress costumes. A dance and euchre tournament for adults will take place after the close of the children’s dance. As the proceeds are to be devoted towards the school prize fund, we feel sure there will be a record attendance. The music will be in ! capable hands. Special prizes will be civen for the ■ adults euchre tournament.
